Dan Nystedt

DanDan Nystedt (nice-ted) writes for the magazines, newspapers and Web sites of International Data Group (IDG), including PC World, Macworld, Computerworld and CIO.

For 10 years now, Dan has been writing about technology as it intersects with business, government and life. In particular, he focuses on hardware: chips, netbooks, smartphones, PCs, etc.

Dan began working for IDG in 2005 in Taipei, Taiwan, where he currently resides. Prior to IDG, Dan was bureau chief of Dow Jones Newswires in Taipei, writing articles ranging from technology to company-focused financial news. In 1999, Dan started as a features reported for an English language paper in Taiwan called the China Post, before moving to the Taipei Times as a business reporter.

Fascinated by technological change as the most significant revolution of our time, he has covered the industry in newspapers, Web sites, news wires and magazines. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Washington Post and Business Week, in addition to IDG publications. In 2007, Dan worked with Tokyo correspondent Martyn Williams to co-write “Japanese porn industry embraces Blu-ray Disc” which won the Terho Uimonen award as story of year at the IDG News Service.

Although Dan’s last name is Swedish, he’s 100 percent American. He chose to live in Taipei because it's home to the friendliest people and best Chinese food in the world. He speaks, reads and writes Chinese. When not working, Dan likes to water ski, surf, travel, and read.
