Bob Carrigan CEO, IDG Communications worldwide Email Bob Carrigan
Bob Carrigan is CEO of IDG Communications worldwide, IDG’s media and events subsidiary. He oversees IDG’s media operations, including online, print, and events in 92 countries around the world. Prior to assuming his worldwide CEO role in 2008, Carrigan was responsible for business units in the U.S., including CXO Media (CIO and CSO), Computerworld, InfoWorld, Macworld, Network World, PC World, GamePro, Industry Standard, and IDG World Expo (Macworld Conference & Expo and E3 Expo).
Carrigan returned to IDG in April 2003 as president and chief executive officer of Computerworld, bringing 15 years of publishing, marketing and sales experience to the position. He rejoined IDG from America Online, Inc. (AOL) where Carrigan was senior vice president in the Interactive Marketing Group. Carrigan joined AOL through its acquisition of Spinner.com, an IDG Ventures portfolio company, where he served as senior vice president, e-commerce and advertising for the Internet radio company.
Prior to Spinner.com, Carrigan spent seven years at IDG’s PC World in several senior sales management positions. Carrigan began his career at IDG’s Digital News as an intern, while an undergraduate at Boston University, and went on to become the New England regional manager and Eastern sales manager for Digital News.
He has been a speaker at numerous industry events. In 2009, Carrigan joined the executive committe of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) after serving as a member of the board of directors. Previously, he was secretary and a member of the board of American Business Media. In 2009, Carrigan was named the CEO Innovator for large business publishers by Media Business and has been recognized in the annual Media Business list of “Who’s Who.” Carrigan is also a member of the Media Industry Newsletter (Min) Sales Hall of Fame.
Carrigan graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s in business administration.
