IDG Enterprise recognized for success with social media

The Social Media Society of Boston honored its Top Social Media Stars of Boston on Oct. 2, a group of 15 individuals that included IDG Enterprise SVP/Chief Content Officer John Gallant and CIO.com Editor-in-chief Brian Carlson. They were recognized together for the work of their entire editorial team, in particular the Social Media Task Force, for their efforts in driving social media usage and traffic growth via social.
“IDGE has seen tremendous success in social media over the past few years,” Carlson said. “Since Oct. 09, IDGE Twitter followers have increased from 25,000 to 173,000 in Aug. 11, a 592% increase. In that same time period, Facebook fans have gone from 2,500 to more than 25,000 today, an increase of 900%. We now see in-bound social traffic to all our sites range from 2% to 25% of total site traffic, making social a significant source of audience and site growth for all our properties. Social is not only a source of audience and eyeballs for us, but services like Twitter are critical communication and reporting tools for editors and writers and are an integral part of our reporting and sourcing process for articles and blogs.”
