Joab Jackson
Joab Jackson is the New York correspondent for IDG News Service. He covers enterprise software, as well as conferences and news events happening in the New York area.
Joab has worked at the News Service since December 2009. Previously, he was the senior technology editor for Government Computer News, an IT trade publication for U.S. government agencies. Before joining GCN, he worked as a technical writer for the National Technology Transfer Center, an organization that helped Defense Department-funded technologies find commercial use. He has also freelanced for a number of publications, including the National Geographic News, the Washington Post and IEEE Spectrum magazine. For six years, he wrote a syndicated column about the Internet, called Cyberpunk, that ran in the Baltimore City Paper and a few other alternative weekly newspapers.
Joab has won a number of awards for his articles from organizations such as the American Business Media, the American Society of Business Publication Editors and the Maryland Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Joab is currently attending University of Maryland University College’s online program for certificates in Web programming and Linux system administration. He also enjoys reading, movies and hiking.
