Nick Barber started with IDG News Service in 2007 as an online video producer. He’s now the Boston-based multimedia correspondent and coordinates global video coverage at the News Service.

Nick focuses on consumer electronics, prototypes and research.

In 2008 he created World Tech Update, an award-winning weekly online news program that he continues to host and produce. Carried by IDG sites in more than a dozen countries, the show covers global tech news and is often shot on location at trade shows worldwide.

Nick also produces IDG App Review, an online show that lets viewers know if the latest free and paid apps are worth their time and money.

IDG Daily and The Byte are IDG News Service’s daily programs that offer tech audiences a quick look at the news of the day. IDG Daily originates from tech conventions worldwide like CES, Mobile World Congress, E3, IFA, Ceatec and others. The Byte reports the most important news of the day in about a minute.

Nick instructs courses in journalism and social media at Boston University’s College of Communication, his alma mater.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and playing racquetball. He’s a former volunteer EMT and CPR instructor.

Nick welcomes story ideas that have strong visuals. Contact him at nick_barber@idg.com or on Twitter @nickjb.
