PC Sales Show Strong Growth
The personal computer market, bucking expectations and negative economic trends like rising interest rates, posted 17% growth in the third quarter, according to two closely watched surveys. Research firms Gartner Inc. and IDC said more than 50 million PCs shipped in the third quarter, up 17% from the same period a year ago. The results beat forecasts of a 13% growth rate in the quarter, and it was the second consecutive robust quarter for the PC market, which posted growth of 18% last quarter, according to IDC.
