I’m the one who takes the fewest decisions of all
Just after his graduation back in the sixties Patrick McGovern, now CEO of International Data Group (IDG), interviewed one of the senior managers of Univac, then the world’s second largest player in the computer business. The manager confessed to McGovern that he didn’t have a clue what the market really wanted, and copied other companies’ designs in the hope that they reflected actual market needs. That was obviously a very risky strategy.
