The publishing company behind CSO and CIO snagged six Neals in front of a record 500-plus b-to-b publishing executives at the 51st annual awards program held yesterday (March 16) at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.CXO Media editorial director Lew McCreary was awarded the Crain award for journalistic excellence in business media while CIO and CSO senior editor Scott Berinato was chosen as the McAllister Editorial fellow for the Medill journalism school's magazine project. CSO took Neals for best single article for Berinato's "Anatomy of a Fraud," best subject-related series of articles and best department, while CIO magazine was awarded best subject-related series for its expose of offshore outsourcing."In many ways, it's fair to say, there's more integrity in the pages of business publications than there is in a lot of the consumer titles," McCreary said in accepting the award. Berinato said his job was to"penetrate noise" for the readers. "Narratives not only entertain, but also humanize business," he said.
