Global PC shipments hit high
Worldwide shipments of personal computers rose 16.6 percent in the second quarter as surging international demand and price wars drove shipments to their highest quarterly growth rate in nearly five years, IDC said Monday. Market leader Dell distanced itself from Palo Alto computer maker Hewlett-Packard, No. 2 in the PC market, by posting 23.7 percent growth in the second quarter compared with 16.3 percent for HP, IDC said.
