IDC Lowers PC Growth Outlook

Growth in personal-computer shipments is likely to be slower than expected, thanks to a cautious U.S. market outlook, a research firm said Wednesday. In its latest look at the PC market, IDC lowered its worldwide growth outlook for 2005 to 9.7 percent from 10.1 percent year over year. IDC now expects that worldwide PC shipments will reach 195.4 million units this year, up from 178.1 million a year ago.
