IDG and expatriates spark Viet Nam's hope for high-tech pitch

A deal signed with the International Data Group (IDG) and interest expressed by overseas Vietnamese during Prime Minister Phan Van Khai's recent visit to the United States may mark a turning point for Viet Nam's fledgling high-tech industry, said a senior expert. Deputy Minister of Sciences and Technology Tran Quoc Thang, who accompanied PM Khai on his landmark visit, expressed his optimism in an interview with the trade union newspaper Lao Dong. He said the visit brought the national Institute of Sciences and Technology of Viet Nam several deals, including an accord of cooperation with the IDG, and commitments to human resources development made by the presidents of Havard University.and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
