IDG’s Kenealy Foresees Web Gates Coming Down, Upfront Online Ad Sales Cropping Up
Business publishers better figure out how to squeeze more money from the Web—and soon—because that's what feeds the bottom line of the future. So warns Pat Kenealy, CEO of high-tech publisher International Data Group. “We’re moving about five [percentage] points of revenue a year from print to online,” says Kenealy, whose highly diversified (and decentralized) employer produces PC World, DigitalWorld, GamePro, Network World and scores of associated Web sites in multiple international markets. “By 2008," he predicts, "half of our revenue will be from online.”
