Nikkei Business Publications and International Data Group Form a Business Alliance in Japan
Tokyo – June 4, 2013 - Nikkei Business Publications (President & CEO: Kohei Osada; Tokyo) and International Data Group (CEO: Bob Carrigan) agreed to form a business alliance in Japan.
Nikkei BP is a cross-media company that provides businesspeople with high value-added information on management, technology, and life. In the tech field, the company publishes a number of print and digital media including “Nikkei Computer.” IDG on the other hand is a global technology media company that serves 97 countries around the world.
The business alliance formed between Nikkei BP and IDG will enable Nikkei BP to further strengthen the ICT product/service lineup and expand the scope of its business in Japan. Additionally, the rich experience of IDG in the global market will help Nikkei BP enhance its overseas operations. IDG in the meantime will maintain its “CIO” and “Computerworld” brands in Japan which is the world’s second largest ICT market. IDG will also be able to offer its clients around the world services that encompass the ICT products/services of Nikkei BP.
Nikkei BP and IDG together will start unfolding specific collaborations in the following areas.
1. IDG will license its CIO and Computerworld brands to Nikkei BP and Nikkei BP will have exclusive rights in Japan to use these two brands in its business. Nikkei BP on June 4 opened the CIO and the Computerworld websites as theme sites of ITpro which is a comprehensive information site on enterprise ICT.
2. Nikkei BP and IDG will work together to support the marketing activities of Japanese ICT companies desiring to make global expansion. Nikkei BP and IDG will also support the marketing activities of non-Japanese ICT companies in Japan.
IDG, through its media brands including CIO, Computerworld, MacWorld and PCWorld, serves 97 countries reaching 280 million technology buyer audience. The company was established in 1964 and has its headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. IDC is a research arm of IDG that conducts ICT market studies in 110 countries around the world.
