Computerworld Announces Key Industry Figures to Address Business Intelligence Perspectives Conference in September

FRAMINGHAM, MA – SEPTEMBER 20, 2006 – Computerworld's Business Intelligence Perspectives Conference announced today an illustrious roster of industry leaders and analysts to address this year's conference to be held Sept. 25-27 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

These headliners will help attendees gain first-hand experience for understanding and addressing the critical business challenges for BI success and implementation of Business Performance Management (BPM) methodologies. They will help identify BI's unique requirements as well as strategies for implementing the vision, managing risks, and justifying costs.

Presenters at Computerworld's Business Intelligence Perspectives Conference include:

Gregory Corrigan, VP of Business Intelligence, PHH Arval

Corrigan leads the newly created Business Intelligence Center at PHH Arval, a leading provider of business-to-business outsourced fleet management services. Corrigan was most recently the project manager for PHH's recently launched client extranet Dashboard application. His latest assignment is taking business analytics to the next level, integrating predictive analytics and modeling with real-time decision support systems to help PHH Arval's clients reduce cost and improve productivity. The dashboard application development he recently led has been hailed by PHH clients as one of the greatest productivity advances in our industry. Corrigan will participate in the panel discussion "Information Everywhere–Tales from the Front Line."

Thomas Davenport, Author and President's Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management, Babson College

Davenport is the president's distinguished professor of information technology and management at Babson College, the director of research for the School of Executive Education, and the academic director of Babson research centers dealing with knowledge and learning, process management, and innovation. Davenport is the author or co-author of eleven books, including his latest book, Thinking for a Living: How to Get Better Performance and Results from Knowledge Workers. Davenport will present "Competing on Analytics: How Fact-Based Decisions and Business Intelligence Drive Performance."

David Gussmann, SVP, Product Development and Operations, LoanPerformance, a subsidiary of First American Real Estate Solutions

At LoanPerformance, Gussmann is responsible for product development and management of the company's information and RiskModel products, including data acquisition, production, and information technology. He draws on over 10 years experience in the financial services and mortgage industries. Gussmann has worked in a variety of financial services roles, including angel investing, mergers and acquisitions, and mortgage banking, at firms that include Beneficial, LoanCity.com, First Chicago Capital Markets, and Volpe Brown Whelan. He will present "Winning More Business with Breakthrough Analytics Performance."

Brian Hickie, Vice President of Business Intelligence (BI) McKesson Corporation

Hickie is the vice president of business intelligence (BI) for McKesson Pharmaceutical, the $77 billion pharmaceutical business unit of McKesson Corporation, a Fortune 16 healthcare services company. Over the past four years Hickie has been the business lead primarily responsible for the design, implementation, and adoption of one of the largest SAP Business Warehouse (BW) implementations in the world. He has over 10 years of professional experience in implementing and auditing ERP/BI systems, including SAP and Oracle. Hickie will participate in the panel discussion "Information Everywhere–Tales from the Front Line."

Ralph Kimball, Founder, The KimballGroup

Kimball, PhD, is respected worldwide for developing practical techniques for building business intelligence platforms as described in his best selling series of books on dimensional data warehousing including The Data Warehouse Toolkit, The Data Warehouse ETL Toolkit, The Data Warehouse Lifecycle Toolkit and the Microsoft Data Warehouse Toolkit. Kimball will present "Where is Your CBIO (Chief BI Officer)?"

Julia King, executive Editor, Events and National Correspondent, Computerworld

King is an award-winning business and technology journalist with more than 20 years experience covering a wide range of beats, from technology management and labor issues to electronic commerce, IT return on investment issues and offshore outsourcing. King was the founding executive editor of the award-winning ComputerworldROI magazine and spearheaded Computerworld's coverage of information economics. Her IT reporting has earned her several awards form the American Society of Business Press Editors and she is a frequent presenter and panel moderator at industry conferences. King will moderate the panel discussion "Information Everywhere–Tales from the Front Line."

David Koenig, CIO, Personal Markets, Liberty Mutual

Koenig is chief information officer, personal markets, for Liberty Mutual Group. Prior to Liberty Mutual, he was a managing director at Citigroup, where he spent time as CIO for Travelers Life and Annuity, and also as sector CTO/chief architect for Citigroup Global Investment Management. His work experience includes four years each at The Boston Consulting Group and National Instruments. Koenig will present "Turning the Lens Inward–Business Intelligence for IT."

Elinor MacKinnon, CIO, SVP, Blue Shield of California

MacKinnon is Blue Shield of California's senior vice president and chief information officer. MacKinnon joined Blue Shield in 2004 as vice president, Applications Services, and has contributed to the development of a three-year IT strategy and the upcoming launch of Blue Shield's Consumer Broker Online Portal (CBOP).

Prior to Blue Shield, MacKinnon served as interim CIO at Chiron Corporation. During her 25-year-plus technology career, MacKinnon has worked with Charles Schwab & Co., the MacKinnon Consulting Group and SHL Systemhouse Inc. in various executive and senior-level technology positions. She will present "Integrating Enterprise Data to Enable Membership Analysis and Reporting at Blue Shield of California."

Enzo Micali, Senior VP and CIO, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc.

Micali is senior vice president of I/T and chief information officer for 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, a position he assumed in December 2000. Micali's technology background includes extensive experience in strategy, architecture, planning and software development. Prior to joining 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, he served as CTO for InsLogic, a business-to-business infrastructure player supporting financial institutions and Internet portals serving the insurance industry. Micali will present "A Strategic Focus on Customer Relationships at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM through the Innovative Use of BI Technologies."

M.C. Sankar, VP, Enterprise Applications Development, TD AMERITRADE

Sankar is the vice president of enterprise applications development at TD AMERITRADE and is responsible for delivering data warehouse, business intelligence, database development, corporate, surveillance, sales CRM and branch applications. Sankar has been with the company since 2004 during which time he has helped develop the firm's Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse vision and put together a strategic roadmap for its implementation of an enterprise information framework. Sankar will present "BI Competency Center–The Key to Pervasive Business Intelligence."

Dr. Bai Shuo, Chief Technology Officer, Shanghai Stock Exchange

Shuo is the chief technology officer for the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Prior to joining the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2002, Shuo was a division chief at the National Network and Information Security Center in China, and was also a professor at the Institute of Computing Technology within the China Academy of Sciences. He has published more than 60 papers in industry journals and conferences. Shuo will present "Exploiting the Regulatory Dividend with an Enterprise Data Warehouse."

Bonnie Smith, Division VP, Abbott Laboratories

Smith is a technology leader with more than 15 years of experience as both a line manager and an IT management consultant. She joined Abbott in June 2005 in her current position as divisional vice president, Information Technology, Global Pharmaceutical Operations. Prior to joining Abbott, Smith was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office in Chicago. As such, she led high-performing teams, working closely with senior business leaders and CIOs to overcome critical business and technology challenges. Smith will present "Launching a Strategy-Based BI Competency Center at Abbott Laboratories."

Gregory S. Smith, VP and CIO, Information Technology, World Wildlife Fund

Smith, vice president for information technology and chief information officer, joined WWF in January 2001. Previously, he was with the American Association of Retired People (AARP) in Washington, D.C., where he directed software development, e-business, and business intelligence activities. Smith is the author of Straight to the Top: Becoming a World-Class CIO. He has published several articles, including "Talking at the Top of the World" in CIO Magazine, along with a variety of technology topics in eWeek and LAN Times. Smith will present "Thriving in a Competitive Environment: Business Intelligence for Better Decision-Making at WWF."

Tim Stanley, Senior VP and Chief Information Officer, Harrah's Entertainment

Stanley is senior vice president and chief information officer of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. He is responsible for the strategy, architecture, program management, development, support and operations of the entire portfolio of Harrah's IT-enabled business capabilities across more than 40 properties in the U.S. and abroad. In this role, he oversees approximately 1,000 IT professionals worldwide.

Stanley was named one of InfoWorld's "Top 25 CTOs," and he has been honored with CIO Insight's "Partners in Alignment" award for successful linkage of business strategy and technology at Harrah's, as well as being named one of "The Top 25 Unsung Heroes of the Internet" by Interactive Week magazine. Stanley will present "Hitting the Jackpot by Leveraging Business Intelligence at Harrah's."

Kevin Vasconi, Chief Information Office, R.L. Polk and Co.

Vasconi is currently chief information officer for R. L. Polk & Co. His responsibilities include all aspects of technology for Polk: re-engineering, organizational redesign and staffing, technical operations, security policy and technology, architecture, new product development, technical strategy, data hygiene and maintenance, production fulfillment and sales support. Vasconi joined Polk after serving as chief technology officer for Covisint, LLC, one of the world's largest business-to-business e-commerce exchanges. Vasconi will present "A New Approach to Quality Data in the Automotive Industry."

Dave Velzy, VP Global Supply Chain, Huffy Corporation

Velzy leads supply chain activities for Huffy Corporation, including sales and operations planning, inventory supply, data management, and product certification testing. Since 2000 he has tapped latent system capabilities for import tracking, foreign trade zone management, and cash flow planning. During this process he led the guerrilla implementation of BI and has written many of the BI applications used by Huffy. Velzy will present "Origami with Data–Business Intelligence on a ShoeString Budget."

Becky Wanta, Global Chief Technology Officer, Pepsi Cola

Wanta joined PepsiCo in September 2003 as the global chief technology officer. Since joining the company, she has developed and begun the implementation of a multi-year technology strategy which will deliver the goals and objectives needed for the company-wide transformation and divisional agendas. Prior to joining PepsiCo, Wanta was the chief technology officer with the Feld Group, serving as the chief technology officer for the Southwest Airlines and WellPoint Engagements. Prior to joining the Feld Group, Wanta was the executive vice president and chief technology officer for Wells Fargo. She holds two intellectual capital patents–one in "Ubiquitous Computing" (Any-Any-Any: Anywhere, Any channel, Any way customers wanted to transact with Wells Fargo), and a second patent in the design and development of high-speed encrypted wireless networks. Wanta will present "The Role of the Enterprise Architecture and the EDW in Business Transformation."

Zhongcai Zhang, VP and Director, Business Intelligence, Ohio Savings Bank

Zhang heads the business intelligence department at Ohio Savings Bank, a 15 billion asset financial institution and one of the top 20 mortgage lenders in the U.S. His strength and passion is to develop cost-effective, innovative, analytic solutions to complex business challenges facing corporate marketing and sales. He chairs the Data Czar Committee at Ohio Savings Bank and has the fullest understanding of the significance of data as a strategic asset of a company. With a unique set of skills and expertise, Zhang has led the development of a scalable business intelligence infrastructure–characterized by being speedy, accurate, flexible, and efficient–in support of key business decisions in such areas as deposit pricing, market expansion, customer acquisition, cross-selling, and retention.
