Emerging Entrepreneurial Firms to be Featured in ComNet’s New Venture Alleysm

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 12, 1999 – Emerging companies from around the world will showcase their latest enterprise networking and telecommunications products, technologies, services and solutions to potential customers, investors and partners in a new, specially designated area at ComNet 2000, January 25-27 at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center.

Named New Venture Alley, this exciting new exhibiting opportunity is dedicated to helping start-up companies that are less than three years old gain more exposure at the premier technology conference and exposition dedicated to communications networks. These innovative companies can now choose to participate in New Venture Alley to maximize their exposure and control their costs.

"This is an industry where new players can become major players virtually overnight," said Don Berey, ComNet Show Director. "New Venture Alley will provide these firms with a highly-visible launch pad that will command the attention of the thousands of decision makers, industry analysts and established vendors that participate in ComNet"

New Venture Alley will add value and impact to the ComNet exhibiting experience of these younger companies by giving them face-to-face contact with key audiences, Berey explained. Meanwhile, New Venture Alley will allow the exposition's 50,000-plus estimated attendees to zero-in on new firms and their cutting-edge products and services more conveniently and efficiently.

"New Venture Alley will help strengthen ComNet's position as the industry's leading event where networking innovations and products are unveiled," Berey added. "The exhibit floor at ComNet has always been an area where new products and information is announced to the public, and we expect even more news and excitement to come out of ComNet with the addition of this special interest area."

In total, ComNet 2000 will include more than 450 exhibitors offering a broad cross-section of new solutions to help companies build, manage and expand communications networks and leverage new public network options

New Venture Alley companies must meet the following criteria:

* They must be less than three years old.

* They must not have exhibited in a booth larger than 10' by 10' in any exposition during the previous three years.

* They cannot be a previously existing business that has undergone a name change as a result of acquisition or spin-off.
