IDC Highlights 10 Wireless Entertainment Companies to Watch in 2006: Small Players with Potential to Make a Big Mark

FRAMINGHAM, MA – JUNE 12, 2006 – Today's U.S. wireless entertainment industry is one of the most active areas in innovation, financial investment, and market experimentation. While wireless entertainment is big business, it's also largely comprised of small, relatively unknown companies. Despite their small size and low visibility, IDC says 10 of these wireless entertainment companies have the potential to make a significant impact on the marketplace in 2006 and 2007.

In this study, IDC highlights Action Engine, Airplay, iLoop Mobile, LOC-AID, Neven Vision, Promptu, Roundbox, Surfkitchen, Third Screen Media, and Volantis as the 10 emerging wireless entertainment companies to watch in 2006. IDC says these companies are some of the most interesting and innovative companies in the mobile services sector, yet few in the broader wireless industry understand what they bring to the table in any sophisticated way.

According to IDC research, the rapid evolution of the wireless entertainment ecosystem and marketplace is providing ripe opportunities for these smaller companies to effectively address issues in adapting multimedia content, simplifying content discovery processes, service integration, and application-enablement markets. IDC also attributes the emergence of these 10 players to the industry's shift in focus on technologies and solutions that enhance the customer experience in terms of wireless entertainment and the need for new solutions for mobile marketing and advertising.
