IDC Issues G.R.A.D.E. Certification to Converge

FRAMINGHAM, MA – JANUARY 14, 2009 – IDC today announced that Peabody, Massachusetts-based Converge has received IDC's Green Recycling and Asset Disposal for the Enterprise (G.R.A.D.E.) certification. Converge’s procedures, infrastructure, and strategy have been designed to meet or exceed the minimum quantitative and qualitative criteria required for G.R.A.D.E. certification, valid for the year 2009.

During the research process, IDC concluded that the procedures and platforms utilized in Converge’s IT asset disposal (ITAD) offerings meet IDC’s standards for preferred practices among organizations seeking to retire their IT hardware assets. Specifically, Converge’s ITAD offerings incorporate a sound risk mitigation practice centered around data security risk avoidance and environmental risk management that provide further guarantee of compliance. Outside the domain of compliance, operations continuity is performed through a suite of services that minimize disruption as assets are moved from the client’s sites to hardware processing facilities. Converge has also deployed two re-marketing services that are used to put back into the market its customers’ assets, generating additional values that can eventually be shared with customers to help offset their cost of disposition. Finally, Converge has deployed a lifecycle management practice that spans from inventory management offerings, such as the classic pickup, packaging, and testing, all the way to redeployment. Converge's G.R.A.D.E. certification is detailed in the IDC report, 2009 G.R.A.D.E. Certification Assessment: Converge (Doc #216182).

"Converge’s ITAD practices are sound and essentially in line with the vendors that have already received G.R.A.D.E. certification," said David Daoud, research manager, Personal Systems at IDC. "We are pleased to see further emphasis on data security and global expansion as the company continues to expand."

IDC's G.R.A.D.E. certification process is based on 34 IT Asset Disposal (ITAD)-related functions and tasks and uses a multi-dimensional weighting system that incorporates the broad offerings of remote applications, onsite services, logistics, in-plant processing, and post treatment. IDC G.R.A.D.E. certification is currently focused on the U.S. market with a view on compliance, sustainability, environmental stewardship, business continuity, and ROI.
