IDC’s 2nd Annual CIO Summit Brings CIOs Together to Share Practical Solutions to Real-World IT Business Challenges; CIOs from various industries including Energy, Financial Services, Automotive Supply, Entertainment and IT to Convene on Boston Waterfront for Spring Conference
FRAMINGHAM, MA – FEBRUARY 7, 2007 – For the second consecutive year, IDC's CIO Summit will bring together CIOs from a broad range of industries to share their unique solutions for overcoming day-to-day professional challenges. This two-day event will showcase a "who's who" roster of global CIOs, and will also include an outcome-oriented workshop designed to help senior IT executives maximize their success. The invitation-only, peer-driven CIO Summit will be held as part of the IDC IT Forum & Expo, June 7 – 8 at the Westin Waterfront Hotel in Boston.
"We take pride in the fact that the CIO Summit offers a platform for CIOs to present their success stories to other CIOs — unlike some conferences where professional speakers, or so-called 'gurus,' do most of the talking," said Frank Gens, senior vice president, research at IDC and the host of this year's CIO Summit. "We've found that CIOs want to hear from other CIOs who are facing many of the same day-to-day challenges. This approach makes the CIO Summit an exceptionally valuable and relevant event."
CIO Summit sessions will include the following:
— "The Management Manifesto"
Frank Gens, Senior Vice President, Research, IDC
— "How to Focus Your IT Organization to Maximize Business Value"
Peter J. Whatnell, CIO, Sunoco, Inc.
— "The Case for Innovation"
Guido Sacchi, CIO, CompuCredit
— "Crafting Your Strategic Sourcing Plan"
Joseph Drouin, Vice President & CIO, TRW Automotive
— "Combating Data Theft"
Darryl Lemecha, CIO, ChoicePoint
— "The Next Generation Data Center"
John Hinkle, CIO, Trans World Entertainment
Scott Miggo, Vice President of Technology Solutions, Nationwide
— "Legacy Modernization"
Richard McCormack, Senior Vice President, Fujitsu
In addition, CIO Summit participants will be offered a workshop specifically designed to provide them with practical approaches to improving leadership skills. The high-level, results-oriented workshop, "Leadership Skills Needed to Become the CIO of the Future," will be lead by Larry Bonfante, CIO of the United States Tennis Association.
To qualify for the CIO Summit, which is a complimentary event, participants must be a top executive in the IT function including CIO, vice president, or equivalent. CIOs from organizations with $300 million plus in annual revenue qualify for participation. For those in the Federal Government or Military, participants must be a CIO or equivalent (i.e. senior administrator).
