IDG Appoints Raimon Gort Managing Director, IDG Netherlands
BOSTON, MA – JULY 9, 2001 – International Data Group (IDG), the world’s leading IT media and information services company, today announced that Raimon Gort has been named managing director of IDG Communications the Netherlands. Gort has been with IDG for ten years, most recently as director of IDG Netherlands’ print division.
Gort brings extensive experience in the technology publishing industry and will succeed Paul Molenaar, who has been managing director since 1995. In his new role, Gort will lead the company’s efforts to further strengthen its portfolio and expand its market leadership. Over the past several years, Gort has had overall responsibility for sales for IDG the Netherlands, more than doubling IDG’s revenue in that country.
"Based on Raimon’s impressive track record with IDG — especially in helping to launch Net Magazine, InfoWorld, Tips & Trucs and ComputerPartner — he brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to this new position," said Kelly Conlin, IDG president and CEO. "We expect Raimon will further strengthen IDG’s role as the leading technology publisher in the Netherlands, fostering our loyal community of readers and directing our team with his proven leadership skills."
Gort joined IDG in 1991 as a senior account manager for Computerworld and played a significant role in the successful launch and subsequent growth of Computer!Totaal. He then became publisher for all of IDG’s Dutch publications. Under his leadership, Computer!Totaal grew to its current circulation of nearly 200,000. He was appointed commercial director in 1998, and in 2000, he was named director of all print operations for IDG in the Netherlands.
Prior to joining IDG, Gort held several sales management positions with Gouden Gids (Yellow Pages), including the role of senior key account manager. He is also a Board member of the MWG, the Dutch association of commercial communication.
IDG the Netherlands publishes the country’s leading technology print titles including ComputerPartner, Computer!Totaal, InfoWorld, LAN Internetworking Magazine, The Internetworking BuyersGuide, Net Magazine, InfoSecurity Netherlands and Tips & Trucs. The online operation of IDG the Netherlands, IDG.nl, is responsible for all the online activities of the company. Not only for the online companion sites of the print products, but also for stand alone online products such as WebWereld (since 1995 in the top 10 of best visited Dutch sites), Vindex (number 2 search engine) and GameZ. The online sales network of IDG.nl is also responsible for the advertising sales of strategic partner sites such as hccnet.nl (the leading Dutch ICT community), consumerdesk.nl, and gamepoint.nl, the leading gamepoint network. IDG New Media, established in 1993, is responsible for publishing existing online and print content on CD-ROM and DVD.
