IDG World Expo Announces LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit
FRAMINGHAM, MA – MAY 24, 2006 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, has announced the launch of a new event – LinuxWorld(R) OpenSolutions Summit(TM) – a regional and more vertically focused conference tailored specifically to the needs and interests of IT professionals involved in the deployment of Linux and open source solutions. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place February 14-15, 2007, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
The new Summit evolved after recognizing a mandate from the industry for a targeted, high-level conference that concentrates on vertical markets – financial, healthcare, manufacturing and retail. Attendees will experience multiple tracks addressing a full spectrum of best practices across key topics, including presentations by leading Linux and open source experts, revealing case studies presented by IT executives, and a Solution Showcase where sponsors will display the latest Linux and open source products and technologies.
As a result of the LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit, the Boston LinuxWorld Conference & Expo(R) will no longer take place.
"We recognize that LinuxWorld San Francisco is the flagship conference and exhibition for the Linux and open source communities," said David Korse, CEO, IDG World Expo. "The industry has also expressed the need for a more focused conference in the New York market and we are excited to introduce this new Summit to the community in early 2007."
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo San Francisco, the original, largest and most comprehensive event focusing exclusively on Linux and open source, will continue to occur on an annual basis at the Moscone Center. Considered the de facto event by attendees and exhibitors alike, LinuxWorld San Francisco features across-the-board sessions and conference tracks and a full trade show floor that embraces the entire Linux and open source continuum, from developers to senior executives, organizations of all sizes, and topics ranging from system administration to the desktop to mobile Linux. LinuxWorld San Francisco continues to be the one venue under which the entire community converges on an annual basis.
Additional information on programming, including keynote speakers, conference tracks and registration for the LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit conference will be announced in the coming months.
