IDG World Expo Launches Custom Events Group
FRAMINGHAM, MA – OCTOBER 20, 2004 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced the launch of IDG World Expo Custom Events Group. The Custom Events Group will produce exclusive and fully coordinated events for individual companies, bringing buyers and sellers of technology together in small, interactive, face-to-face forums. Event and entertainment industry veteran, Mike Healy, has been named group vice president of the Custom Events Group.
The newly formed group will augment and leverage IDG World Expo’s extensive experience and success with large, open events such as Macworld, LinuxWorld and Bio•IT World, by offering its services on a much smaller and more personal scale. The original and proprietary events will be completely “turnkey” from the perspective of the company who enlists the service. The Custom Events Group will coordinate events from start to finish, including topic/content development; audience mining; audience acquisition; panel recruitment; and all logistics, production and marketing.
“One trend we see is that IT companies, on average, are increasing their allocation of marketing dollars for events – and even more so for their own onsite events,” said Michael Gerard, research director for IDC’s CMO Advisory Service. “Our latest study on technology marketing spending and resource priorities titled "Marketing Budget Planner 2005: Benchmark and Key Performance Indicators," shows that many of the world's largest and most influential technology vendors value the impact that exclusive onsite events provide.”
“The Custom Events Group has some very exciting events that are so unique that it will be hard for our client’s customers to pass up,” said Healy. “The events are energizing, and they provide clients a productive and intimate environment where vision, ideas and strategies are shared, and where clients get the opportunity to meet their most important prospects and customers. We also provide creative ways for the client to follow up with attendees.”
For each event, the Custom Events Group will adhere to a rigorous registration process, working with the client to ensure the right audience. Attendees will be recruited based on their titles as well as their purchase involvement in products and services relevant to the program topic. Registration lists will be reviewed to make certain only those IT decision-makers who meet client specifications will attend.
Topics and agendas for programs will be developed by IDG World Expo market experts, in conjunction with the event sponsor. These experts will work closely with companies to choose topics that will generate audience interaction, provide educational value to the attendees and align with a company’s marketing goals and objectives.
“The addition of this group is another example of how IDG World Expo remains on the cutting edge by adding new events and services to its portfolio to address emerging technologies and industry needs,” said David Korse, president of IDG World Expo. “Custom events are an important trend in the IT events industry. But corporations want to focus on their core business – not on putting events together. We are the leader in the IT events world, and we will ensure that a company’s marketing dollars are delivering a clear return on investment.”
Mike Healy has over 15 years of experience in the IT events industry. He has launched conferences and events for Earthweb, Giga Information Group, Forrester Research and Ziff Davis Media. Healy was also the show director for the launch of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo® in 1999 for IDG World Expo. Prior to working in the IT events industry, Healy worked in the entertainment industry where he ran events for the Nashville Network and Star Search, among others.
