Internet Commerce Expo –ICe– Boston 2000 Announces Two New Speakers to Lineup
FRAMINGHAM, MA. — MARCH 8, 2000 — IDG World Expo, the world's leading producer of IT-focused conferences and expositions, today announced that United States Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology Dr. Cheryl Shavers, and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will take part in the Internet Commerce Expo (ICe) in Boston to be held at the World Trade Center March 27 – 30, 2000. U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology, Cheryl L. Shavers, Ph.D. will present an address on the government's position on recent Internet activities on Tuesday, March 28 at 10:45 a.m. following the morning's keynote address by George Gilder, Founding Editor of Forbes ASAP. In her position as Under Secretary, Shavers oversees the Commerce Department's Technology Administration and the Office of Technology Policy, as well as the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Technical Information Service. Dr. Shavers formerly worked as a Sector Manager for the Microprocessor Division within Intel's Corporate Business Development Division as well as being a product engineer with Motorola and a process development engineer with Hewlett-Packard.
Introducing the conference's first keynote session, on Tuesday, will be Mayor of Boston Thomas Menino. Mayor Menino has been instrumental in helping bring eBusiness to the Boston area as well as helping bring the technology age to Boston's public schools with governmental grants as well as industry-funded programs.
