LinuxWorld Conference & Expo to Shatter All Previous Exhibitor and Attendance Records

FRAMINGHAM, MA – MARCH 20, 2001 – IDG World Expo announced today that it expects to shatter all previous exhibitor and attendance records at the upcoming LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, slated for August 27 – 30, 2001 at The Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

"We blew out existing attendance records last year in San Jose," says Charlie Greco, president and CEO, IDG World Expo, owners and managers of the event. "Then we broke records again with the East Coast LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, which is now the second most widely-attended IT event in New York. The growth of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo has been explosive."

Since its launch in 1999, LinuxWorld Conference & Expo has been considered the world's largest Linux OS event with its exclusive focus on Linux and Open Source solutions. Leading companies from around the world use LinuxWorld Conference & Expo to showcase their latest Linux products and applications. They also network with members of the Linux community at educational and informative conference sessions, special events, and forums presented by some of the industry's top-noted professionals.

"LinuxWorld Conference and Expo is the place to be if you're a player in the Linux space. We're bringing the event to The Moscone Center in San Francisco, a venue better able to accommodate the hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of attendees," Greco says. "The Expo floor will be sold out by the time the show opens. We're advising companies to act quickly to guarantee they can get the space they want."

Some LinuxWorld Conference & Expo highlights attendees can expect to see in San Francisco are:

· The $25,000 IDG / Linus Torvalds Community Award, presented by Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux and Charlie Greco, president and CEO, IDG World Expo, recognizes an association, organization or individual that has shown exceptional dedication to the open source movement

· Open Source Product Excellence Awards, presented in conjunction with the UniForum Association, recognize product or service innovations and solutions in open computing being offered by exhibitors

· Review sessions and testing for Sair Linux and GNU Certified Administrator (LCA) Level, a $5,100 value, will be offered free to all conference attendees who register before August 13, 2001
