Linuxworld Expands Conference Content To Deliver Open Source Education To Wider Audience
FRAMINGHAM, MA – JUNE 17, 2003 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced it has expanded the conference program for LinuxWorld Conference & Expo to provide a comprehensive educational experience for the entire spectrum of open source users and enthusiasts, including corporate and IT executives, directors, administrators and developers. Taking place August 4-7, 2003 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will feature a new program specifically for CIOs, the San Francisco debut of the Linux Financial Summit, and the introduction of Hands-on Labs.
LinuxWorld's CIO Agenda is a new program featuring sessions specifically designed for CIOs who need to be well-versed in the implications of Linux adoption. With topics in business, security, system administration, application development, and emerging technologies, the CIO Agenda will provide CIOs with insights on how Linux and open source can benefit their organizations.
Following its successful launch this past January at LinuxWorld in New York City, the Linux Financial Summit will make its West Coast debut at LinuxWorld in August. Sponsored by Technology for Finance, the Summit is designed to address the growing demand for quality information and insight on Linux and open source solutions for the financial industry. The Linux Financial Summit is open exclusively to pre-qualified participants and LinuxWorld conference attendees. Confirmed participants include Bill Bradway of IDC's Financial Insights, E*TRADE CTO Josh Levine, and Tim Witham of the Open Source Development Lab.
Also new to the LinuxWorld conference program in San Francisco are Hands-on Labs. These labs will provide hands-on computer training on key applications and tools in such areas as building a portable LSB application and managing a mixed Linux and Windows environment.
Conference sessions and tutorials taught by experts in the field will provide open source education with real-world perspective to corporate and IT executives, end-users, educators, administrators, application and technical developers.
