MommyCasters(TM) and Whirlpool’s ”American Family” To Join Podcast Panel at Syndicate Conference in New York
FRAMINGHAM, MA – MARCH 30, 2006 – IDG World Expo today announced that the hosts of the popular Mommycast(TM) podcast series and Whirlpool's innovative The American Family podcast will participate as panelists at Syndicate(TM), a B2B conference focused on emerging trends and technologies in content syndication. The conference is scheduled to take place May 16-17, 2006 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
Mommycast, hosted by Gretchen Vogelzang and Paige Heninger, is a weekly show for and by women immersed in the fullness of motherhood and life. It is currently one of the most successful, non-technology shows on the internet. The American Family, developed and sponsored by Whirlpool is hosted by Audrey Reed-Granger. It is another example of a highly successful discussion-based podcast addressing matters impacting families with diverse backgrounds and experiences. This series broke new ground in corporate marketing by spotlighting family issues rather than promoting products.
"Everyone thought we were missing the obvious by not seizing the medium as an advertising tool," said Audrey Reed-Granger, Director of Public Relations, Whirlpool, Inc. "Now, however, thousands listen every month and we even receive e-mails from people as far away as India, Australia and England."
"These panelists are a perfect example of how new tools of syndication – RSS, Atom, OPML, Media RSS, blogs, podcasts or other emerging technologies – are changing the marketplace," said Patty Caron, Vice President, Conference Brands, IDG World Expo. "Consumers are not only creating a following, they're creating new business opportunities and new business models that are changing how content can be sold and made profitable."
In addition, Scott Sigler, renowned science fiction and screenplay writer, will participate in this panel discussion. Sigler's latest claim to fame is the release of his eBook "Earthcore" on iTunes, making it the first paid-download podcast. Sigler is also the Vice President of Marketing at SNP Communications which specializes in content development for podcasting.
Moderating the panel is Paul Gillin, a veteran IT journalist with more than 23 years of experience covering the industry. He is currently an independent consultant and writer specializing in social media, Internet marketing and industry insight. Previously, he was founding editor of IT media firm TechTarget and editor-in-chief of Computerworld.
