New IDC MarketScape Provides a Vendor Assessment of the Worldwide Enterprise Architecture Consulting Market for 2012

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. March 27, 2012 – International Data Corporation (IDC) has published a new vendor assessment profiling the leading providers in the worldwide IT consulting services market. The IDC MarketScape report found that Deloitte, IBM, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers are all "Leaders" in the global market for enterprise architecture consulting.

"With the advent of enabling technologies such as cloud services, mobility, analytics, and social media, enterprise architecture has regained prominence. Enterprises realize they must update or recreate their technical architectures to extract the maximum business value from these enabling technologies," said Gard Little, research director, IT Consulting and System Integration Research.

The vendors included in this IDC MarketScape analysis are Accenture, Capgemini, CSC, Deloitte, HP, IBM, KPMG, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. In addition to the vendors identified as "Leaders", five vendors were named as “Major Players”. They are Accenture, Capgemini, CSC, HP, and KPMG.

"This analysis indicates an intense competition among the players as vendor ratings were very close for the majority of the vendors in most sub-criteria. The analysis reveals certain areas of strength and areas of improvement for the providers within the enterprise architecture services market," said Ali Zaidi, senior research analyst, IT Consulting and Systems Integration Research.

Key findings from this MarketScape include:

Across the eight vendors analyzed, the most common areas mentioned as needing improvement were cost management, sales and distribution, and future growth strategies.

Conversely, the most common areas of vendor strength included innovation, R&D pace and productivity, current growth strategies, and future customer service strategies.

The report, IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Enterprise Architecture Consulting 2012 Vendor Analysis (IDC # 233918) assesses the capability and business strategy of many of the leading IT consulting firms. This evaluation is based on a comprehensive framework and set of parameters expected to be most conducive to success in providing enterprise architecture consulting services during the short and long term. A significant component of this evaluation is the inclusion of the perception of IT consulting buyers of both the key characteristics and the capabilities of these consulting providers.
