Over 100 Companies Will Launch New Business-to-Business Products at Internet Commerce Expo (ICe) Boston 2000
BOSTON, MASS., MARCH 13, 2000 — IDG World Expo, the world’s leading producer of IT-focused conferences and expositions, today announced that a pre-show survey of exhibitors reveals that more than half of the 200 companies at the Internet Commerce Expo (ICe) will be announcing new products at the show. ICe, the country’s largest event focused exclusively on the tools, products and services designed for business-to-business electronic commerce, is scheduled for March 27 — 30 at the World Trade Center in Boston.
Two hundred exhibitors polled indicated more than 50% of them are expected to announce new products to the eBusiness community on the sold-out show floor of ICe Boston 2000. Survey results showed that the largest number of new products — 22% — will lie within the knowledge management sector. The second most popular category, with 17% of exhibitors responding, said that they would unveil software products that help to run an enterprise’s eBusiness operations. Tied for third place were products that help with security, Web content and Web design, each making up 11% of exhibitor responses. An overwhelming majority of exhibitors who responded — 93% — said that they specifically timed the release of their product to coincide with the ICe Boston 2000 show.
"We have positioned ICe Boston to be the place for the eBusiness community to come and see the latest innovations and announcements," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO of IDG World Expo. "I think that the increased number of exhibitors using ICe Boston as a launching platform proves that we have brought the show to a new level."
Exhibitors were also asked to elaborate on the trends that they could identify within their industry. Common trends described within the eBusiness sector included:
— Move toward application service providers (ASP)
— Move toward outsourcing eCommerce applications
— Increase in creation of eBusiness and eCommerce development tools
— Increase in creation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) eBusiness applications
— Increase in market share of software redundancy solutions space
— Increase in tools designed for personalization of online databases
The ICe "Best of" Awards competition, exclusively sponsored by the Massachusetts Interactive Media Council (MIMC,) will feature new products and services introduced within the last six months. Almost one-quarter of the 200 ICe exhibitors have entered the competition. Applicants will be subject to a rigorous review process from a panel of industry experts chosen by MIMC and ICe. Winners will be announced at the award ceremony on Wednesday, March 29.
