Successful Syndicate Conference in San Francisco Completed; Several Companies Announce New Products and Reveal Strategies around RSS, Blogging and Related Syndication Technologies

— Scott Gatz, one of Yahoo!'s leaders on RSS usage throughout Yahoo!'s products, details how Yahoo! Yahoo! also announced an upgrade to their popular Alerts product to include RSS feeds, which support SMS, instant message, and email.
— Microsoft focused its energy on the powerful new Windows Live suite, including Live.com. Live.com incorporates a breadth of gadgets, RSS feeds, and AJax rich content, among other things. The gadgets draw from a variety of RSS-driven feeds and other sources.
— Attensa introduced 1.0 Beta version of its first RSS reader client, Attensa for Outlook 1.0; Attensa announced it landed $9 million in Series B equity funding led by RSS Investors, bringing the total investment to date to $12 million;
— Free Range Communications and Attensa announced a technology partnership to bring RSS AttentionStream synchronization to mobile devices.
— NewsGator announced that Newsweek and Macworld have selected NewsGator Hosted Solution (NGHS) to integrate RSS aggregation into their online sites; NewsGator also announced that its Enterprise Server (NGES), an enterprise-class RSS solution, has been implemented at over 20 companies around the world.
— Pheedo, the RSS advertising and analytics experts, released its second in a series of "Pheed Read" reports ( www.pheedo.info ), providing RSS publishers, advertisers and users insight into RSS usage patterns. It found that standalone RSS ads are proving more compelling than inline ads; RSS ads outperforming Web ads; and more.
— Feedster and Biz360 partnered to help marketing communications executives measure buzz, surface threats and opportunities in the blogosphere. The new service is called BlogView.
— KnowNow announced that KnowNow eLerts will add both Mozilla Firefox support and the addition of a Windows "Deskbar" for receiving instant notifications of important and relevant content even when your browser is closed; Also, Rentals.com, recent winner of BusinessWeek's Web Innovation Award, has added customer awareness and 'stickiness' by using notification services and RSS content delivery from KnowNow.
— LookSmart and Local.com announced that LookSmart's Furl.net ("Furl") will be the archiving technology powering the "Save" feature on Local.com.
— Technorati launched Technorati Events Feeds Services, and Technorati Contact Feeds Service, allowing users to lift HCard and HCalendar listings on websites and blogs, and import them directly to contact managers and calendars.
— Five Across announced the availability of the new Five Across Connect server product, with a built-in Community Engine.
— Gritwire launched Gritwire Version 1.0, unique among RSS aggregators in its easy-to-use "widget" interface architecture. This architecture allows users to view their feeds, friends, wikis, and more, all on one page without ever having to refresh the browser.
Additionally, a consortium of blogging startups made an announcement at Syndicate with the goal of giving deeper meaning to the Internet by giving people tools to categorize web pages. 30 startups announced the Structured Blogging Initiative to ensure that all the emerging standards were interoperable.
